24 hours and nearly 50 miles around the track at La Jolla High School all to raise money and awareness for The American Cancer Society. The chapter participated in the La Jolla Relay for Life on June 23 & 24. Our Sigma Kappa booth displayed a tribute to Nancy, our historian, who is currently undergoing rounds of chemotherapy to fight Leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer of the smooth muscle tissue.
We sold delicious cupcakes made by Melissa J. for some extra fundraising at the event. They even had pearl centered violets on
We had a great team of Sigma Kappa walkers: Melissa J, Melissa C, Jessica, Alice, Heather and Colleen. Special thanks goes to Melissa's boyfriend (Filipe) along with his brothers (Carlos & Miguel) and friend (Chinyelu) who helped with set-up/take down and did a lot of the walking (especially the overnight laps). What would we do without great men in our lives to support us?
The event was a success and we made lots of new friends in the community. We even met another Sigma Kappa! You can continue to donate to our team through August 31. Click here for more details.
We kicked off the summer with a fabulous happy hour at Wisknladle in La Jolla. It was great to see old friends and some new faces, including a couple of our recent grads from Zeta Mu! Welcome Kristie and Kristina! We were even fortunate enough to get a special appearance from sweet Carol who was a founding member of the Gamma Kappa Chapter! It was the perfect evening for a few drinks, delicious tapas and plenty of girl chat. Can't wait to see you all at the next event!
