The La Jolla Alumnae Chapter joined Zeta Mu bright and early Saturday morning for the San Diego Walk to End Alzheimer's. The La Jolla Alumnae Chapter team raised over $1,600! We couldn't have done it without our 10 year veteran fund raiser, Rachel, who couldn't walk with us (she is 8.5 months pregnant!) but we walked for her in memory of her grandmother Dorthea. And big thank yous to our alumnae team members Melissa C, Lori, Stacy, Larissa, Melissa J, Carolyn, (and me!) who collected donations before and braved the morning fog. The Sigma Kappa Foundation is one of the largest supporters of Alzheimer's research in the US and we are glad to take part in contributing to this important cause.
We are so proud of our beautiful Zeta Mu girls and all of their hard work this past weekend at recruitment. They got quota plus 3, kept all legacies and added the best new members to our sisterhood. A special shout out to Darlene and the hours she has volunteered to support the chapter in preparing for and carrying out recruitment. And thank you to many of the La Jolla Chapter alumnae who graciously donated their time to assist throughout recruitment weekend.
Saturday and Sunday the alumnae chapter provided lunch for our collegiate sisters who only get a small meal break in the middle of a very long day. The collegians were so greatful for the sustinence and each darling Zeta Mu thanked us a million times. The alumnae had a great time getting to know each other as we set up the meals and we all agreed this should be a yearly tradition.
